In this life there are very few things that can lead to an instant change in both your mood and your circumstances. Most of the time the thing that is keeping us either depressed, introverted or skint is the simple act of avoiding embarrassment.

Now obviously the word embarrassment here is also taking the place of the word failure too because most of what creates the bad feeling from failure is the embarrassment of not achieving whatever goal you were aiming for.

If you think about it then embarrassment is a very vain “emotion” or “mental state”, the reason I say this is that it assumes that everybody is looking at you and interested in what you are doing!. There are realistically only a few people that will be interested in your life and they are either family or true friends. Both of these groups of people, rather than tearing you down (apart from in jest) should be building you up again. If they are not, then they are not fulfilling the role that has been given to them and they no longer qualify for the group they are in.

Over the last 12 months my mindset has slowly changed and I now look a bit deeper into anything that is “scaring” me. The main point of this being that I identify what it is that is putting me off doing things or achieving a goal. If the worst case scenario is that I feel foolish or self -conscious, then this strangely motivates me to carry on.

My first public admission of this is this blog post, on my first “proper” website. The goal being that I can hopefully help others overcome problems by sharing the learnings from my life experiences and the (possibly) strange way that I think about things.

On other pages/posts I will talk about things that have helped me stay on top of my mental and physical health and ideally this site will be some therapy for me. The first of these things is listed in my Links page “The 7 secrets of Happiness” by Gyles Brandreth.
